There are something that I didn't write in English, though I did in Japanese, in the last posting, which is those international celebrities in Japan could be a perfect boyfriend (wink wink). They are well-educated, cute, fluent in Japanese and interested in Japanese culture. But I also said I shouldn't be in the U.S. if I want to meet such nice people (sigh). Why is it so difficult to meet such Americans in the U.S.??? It's really ironic that you're in Japan and I am in the U.S., don't you think?
Hope I could give you a huge hug someday! If you don't mind corresponding with a big Japanese fan of yours in your country once in a while, please drop me a line.
At any rate, I wish you the best of luck to your career and I'll keep watching your show in the U.S.! (Is "Out and About" broadcast only abroad? If so, it may not be so bad to remain in the U.S. 'cos I can keep watching it!)

ジェイソン・ハンコック / Jason Hancock
去年の夏くらいからNHKが海外放送を始めたというのをお伝えしましたが、まさに最近はNHKを見てる時間が半分くらいになってはまってます。基本的に、外国に日本を紹介する番組が多くて、トーンはどれも同じ。だけど、改めて日本の最近の文化や地方の文化に触れると、日本っていいなーと日本人の僕ですら思えてくる。特にお気に入りの番組は、Your Japanese Kitchen, Tokyo Eye, Cool Japan, Out and About, クローズアップ現代, プロフェッショナル 仕事の流儀など。
Around last summer NHK (Japanese version of BBC or PBS) started broadcasting abroad more widely. Even my cable company Comcast has its channel in the 100's number and I have been sucked in NHK programs because I miss Japan. They are mostly targeting foreign viewers, however. Hence, the programs are about explaining Japanese culture from food to fashion, traveling, and lifestyle. My favorites are Your Japanese Kitchen, Tokyo Eye, Cool Japan, Out and About, Close up Gendai, Professionals, etc.
これら番組を見る一つの楽しみが、外タレさんを見ること。また最近は増えていろんな人が日本のエンターテイメント業界で活躍してるみたいだねー。しかも、日本語が超うまい。日本語もできてかっこよくて日本に興味ありって、3拍子そろってるよね。ボーイフレンドにするんだったら、こういう人たちが完璧ではないかと・・・（嗚呼アメリカにいる場合じゃない）。しかも、こういう外タレってゲイっぽい人も多い。
One of the fun parts of watching these programs is to check out cute guys from all over the world. They are always fluent in Japanese (I assume NHK requires Japanese proficiency for the position) and cute and interested in Japan! That's a perfect combination. Don't you think? I also bet there's a high chance that some of them are gay actually.
そんな僕が目を付けてる一人がジェイソン・ハンコック。初めて彼を目にしたのが、Out and Aboutの番組。それから再び目にしたのがこのエピソード。しかも、両方とも服を脱いでる！その脱ぎっぷりといやー、そりゃ見事。

特に2つ目のふんどし姿は、NHKの番組にしてはセクシーすぎじゃ？？と思ってしまうほど。しかも、他のじいちゃんばあちゃんの視聴者は気がつかなかったかもしれないけれど、ジェイソン、超小さいビキニの日焼け跡が残ってるんですけど！ここまでタイニーなビキニで海辺をウロウロできるんだったら、ふんどし姿なんて朝飯前だよねぇ～。
Especially this scene him in "fundoshi" (Japanese loincloth) is way over sexy for an NHK program. I wondered if other viewers noticed but Jason has a bikini tanline! That was a really tiny bikini, I can see!!
ジェイソンの日本語は、ほとんどネイティブなみ。すごーいと感服。しかも、性格が良い人～ってのがにじみ出てるんだよねぇ。いやー、こんな友達がいたらいいなぁ。今日、彼の略歴をみつけて、日本語がこんなにうまい理由も少し納得。

昨晩は、彼を別のNHKの番組で発見。これまでOut and Aboutでしか見たことなかったけど、昨日は日本の女の子のかわいいファッション文化を英語で学ぶというもの。学校の教室のセットに、海外からの若い女性が生徒役で座って、講師のお話を聞くという設定。その教室の最後部に、一人、ヒゲ面の男性が・・・。僕はコギャルたちよりもその唯一の男性ガイタレが気になって、番組を見ながら、あのジョックは誰～もっと大きく映してよーとブーイング気味。
番組の最後のほうになり、彼もカメラでクローズアップされ、それがジェイソンであることが判明。ヒゲをはやしてたので全然わからなかった。しかも、ちょっと老けた？ヒゲをはやしてさらに一層、ゲイ・ダディーって感じ・・・。だけど、ちゃんとA&Fの上下を着てて、さすがジェイソン。番組最後は、ジェイソンの掛け声で参加者全員が乱れまくりのダンスで終了。もう彼に惚れましたよ。今後、ますます注目です。

He looked a bit older... and even gayer. Of course, he was wearing Abercrombie and Fitch (A&F) shirts and pants (grin). Jason is my hero. Go Jason!

霊感？- ESP?
去年の年末の株価から、今年に入って大暴落・・・。10％近くも値を下げてしまってます。サブプライムローン問題も、全然解決する兆しがなく、もう不況に突入してしまってると思うしかない状況。11月時点から200万円近くも損失してるけど、これ以上、株価が下がるのは黙って見てられない！と思って、今日、思い切って持ってる株（ミューチュアルファンド）を全部売り払った。代わりに短期国債を購入。幸運にも、今日は少し値を戻したのでキャピタルゲインもわずかながらアップ。
The stock prices have fallen almost 10% since last year. Subprime loan problems seem to be exacerbated and there is no doubt that economy has entered into recession. I lost almost $20,000 in stocks and couldn't wait and see my funds losing more value. So today I sold all my mutual funds. Instead, I purchased a short term treasury bond fund. Luckily, the stock market went up a bit today and my capital gain went up a bit accordingly, too.
というわけで、今日は一日中、株価が気になってそわそわ。仕事が手につかない一日だった。しかも、別件の大ニュース（来月にでも説明します）も飛び込んできて、いつになくイベントフルな日。お客様とのディナーもあったのだけど、2日間、ジムに行ってなかったので、今晩、近所のジムへ。
That's why, I was so jittery today and couldn't focus on my work all day long. In addition, I got quite big news--I'll explain about this news in April. It was a really eventful day.
Tonight I had dinner with my clients, but since I didn't go to the gym last two days, I kicked my ass to hit the tread mill and lift some weights.
家を出るとき、とにかくいろんなことがあったなぁ～と回想しながら歩いてると、ふと、なんだか今日はこれだけでは終わらないような予感が。虫の知らせっていうか、第6感っていうか、霊感というか・・・。みょーに、誰かにジムで声を掛けられそうな予感。
When leaving my home, I recalled what happened today. Then, without any reasons, I thought something else was going to happen at the gym tonight. It was kind of the 6th sense. In Japanese, it's called "mushino shirase" which means a signal from insects. Or, it's called "reikan" which literally means a "ghost sense." It's a supernatural perception to foresee things. So tonight I had a feeling that I may be spoken to by someone at the gym.
ジムに到着したら、夜10時ということもあり、人もまばら。いつものメニューをこなしてると、やっぱり予感的中。突然Lukeに声を掛けられた。
When I got to the gym, there were not many people since it was already 10pm. I was doing routine work but my prediction was right. Luke spoke to me out of the blue.
Lukeに会うのはもう何年ぶり？ってくらいのご無沙汰。僕をホリデー・ガール呼ばわりした彼です。この回のブログをご覧あれ。この回のブログにもLukeが登場してる。多分、これが最後に会ったときだと思うから、かれこれ2年と4ヶ月ぶり・・・。Lukeは30歳になったとかで、去年、転職も果たして今はNPOで働いてるとか。時は流れる・・・。
It's been a few years since I saw him last. He called me a "holiday girl" a few years ago because he only called me up on holidays--because his then boyfriend had to work on holidays and Luke needed someone to hang out with. I wrote when we met in 2004 and 2005 in my past postings. So, it's been 2 years and 4 months since I saw him last... Last October he turned 30 years old, he said! He also switched a job last year to work for an NPO. Time flies...
それにしても、自分の霊感に驚き。株価も、今日、売り抜けておいて正解だといいのだけれど・・・。
At any rate, I was surprised by my own ESP. I hope that I was right about selling all my stocks today too.

スーパーチューズデー Super Tuesday
今日は、テキサス州とオハイオ州で大統領候補者選びの投票が行われます。ヒラリーとオバマは、これで民主党の代表になれるかどうかが決まりそうで、こっちでは相当盛り上がってる。LGBTに対する政策は、どっちがいいのか気になるところだけど、今年は前回の大統領選と違って、経済問題とか移民問題とか山積なので、同性結婚の話題はほとんど聞かない・・・残念なことだ。
Today people in Texas and Ohio are voting for presidential nominees. It looks like either Hillary or Obama will be confirmed as a democratic candidate depending on who will win in these two states, so there's a fuss. I am curious which candidate has better policy against LGBT community but this issue is put on back burner because there are many other issues such as economy and immigration reform. That's a pity.
ジェームスは、州の所得税がないテキサスを居住地として登録してるので、免許証もテキサス州発行だし、今回の投票もテキサス州でするらしい。遠隔投票の青色の用紙が、郵便で届いてた。ジェームスが、「ヒラリーとオバマだったらどっちに投票する？」なんて聞いてきたので、今の勢いからすると、オバマ優勢かなぁと思って、「オバマ」って答えておいた。そしたら、昨日になって、「オバマに投票しといた」って返事。え、もしかして僕の意見で投票相手を決めてたりした？
James (a.k.a. my former b/f and current best friend) has registered as a resident in Texas, so he has a Texas driver's license and will vote as a Texan today. Since he is actually living with me in the East Coast, he used an absentee ballot. The other day, he got a blue envelope for that. James asked me, "Which would you vote, Hillary or Obama?" I replied, "Obama" because he has been winning straight through last several states. Yesterday, James told me that he actually voted for Obama. Did he decide because of what I said?

So a factor that Obama has a shorter history in Washington, DC and looks less corrupt since he seems not to have a close relationship with lobbyists and other interest groups, making him a better candidate against McCain. Though, last night a man who was charged for a corruption was reported to have a close relationship with Obama...
アメリカで同性結婚が合法化されるといいなー。けど、僕は、その前にグリーンカードがそろそろ取れそうっす。昨日、国務省の掲示板でグリーンカードの発行時期を見てみたら、2005年1月になって僕のPD(プライオリティー・デイト)がカレントになってた！これが続けば、あとはI-140が処理されれば晴れて永住権が手に入ります。
I hope that the same sex marriage will be enacted soon. But it seems I will get a green card before that. When I checked the State Department Bulletin yesterday, my Priority Date was current! If this PD remains or proceeds next few months and my I-140 is approved, I will get my permanent residency status finally.

オスカーとコテカ Oscars and Koteka
This year's Oscars was not that great. One main reason might be the prolonged protest by the Writer's Guild. The host John Stewart's joke was also so-so and I couldn't laugh out loud... obviously the writer didn't spend much time and energy on Jon's script.
今年のオスカーはイマイチでした。司会をしたジョン・スチュアートのジョークも滑りがちでいまいち。他の出演者も、事前準備をあんまりしてないんじゃないの？っていうようなコネタしかないのが多かったし。ライブ・ミュージックも、ミュージカルばっかりで僕の興味は萎えてしまった。作家協会の一斉ストライキが長引いたので、オスカーの脚本書くのにあまり時間がなかった模様。
Another (disappointing) surprise is that Michael Clayton didn't win many prizes--only the best supporting actress category. Tilda Swinton , who played an evil attorney in Michael Clayton, was great, actually. She deserves it.
そしてもう一つ、イマイチに思った原因は、Michael Claytonがあんまり受賞しなかったこと。助演女優賞はこの映画に出てるTilda Swintonが受賞したけどそれだけだったんじゃないかな。でも彼女の演技は光ってたので、受賞してよかったです。
No Country for Old Men was definitely the biggest winner of the night. That's the Cohen brothers' latest film. I like their Fargo a lot but haven't seen this one. That's why I couldn't get excited when I heard that they won the best picture last night.
今年、各賞を総なめしたのが、No Country for Old Men。コーエン兄弟が監督した作品。僕も、彼らの昔の作品、Fargoは好きだけど、ちょっと玄人向き映画。まだNo Countryは見てないというのもあり、昨晩の受賞の納得感が薄い・・・。
According to my friend James, this movie is very suspenseful but also bloody and spooky. Hmmm I'm not sure if I can enjoy such a movie on Friday night by myself... But since it won the best picture, I should see it sometime, maybe with M (my Japanese female friend) or Brian.
ジェームスによると、この映画、確かにサスペンス一杯らしいのだけど、キモイ殺人鬼の話で流血がすごいらしい。ちょっと金曜夜に一人で自宅で見るには不向きか・・・。でも最優秀作品賞も取ったし、今度、Mさんかブライアンを誘って見てみようなか。
Already James has rent out La Vie En Rose which won the best actress category last night. There is a theory (according to some commentator on the U.S. television), if a pretty actress plays an ugly woman, she will win the Oscar; see Nicole Kidman in The Hours and Charlize Theron in Monster. Well, it seems true for this year.
早速、ジェームスが、助演女優賞を取ったフランスの作品、La Vie En RoseのDVDを今日借りてきてる。昨晩、テレビのコメンテーターが言ってたけど、美人女優が不細工な役を演じると、オスカーを受賞できるというジンクスがあるとか。確かに、これまでニコール・キッドマンのThe Hoursとか、シャーリース・セローンのMonsterなんてそうだよね。今年のLa Vie En Roseもそうだし。
Since the Oscars itself was a bit boring, I was distracted by other channels such as my favorite Travel Channel. It was showing a documentary Living With the Mek Tribe.
今年のオスカーは途中、退屈するシーンが多かったので、浮気して別の番組に目移りしてしまった。裏番組で放送していたのが、僕のお気に入りTravel Channelのドキュメンタリー番組。

二人のイギリス人、MarkとOllyが、ニューギニア（？）の原住民Mek族と共に生活するというドキュメンタリー。ちょうど昨晩は、二人が原住民たちと生活し始めてしばらく経ったので、大人になるための通過儀礼が行なわれるという内容で、そのために、MarkとOllyは、原住民と同じ服装、つまり、ナニをコテカと呼ばれる植物で出来たツノ状ケースで隠すっていうだけの格好に！つまんないジョン・スチュアートのジョークよりも、ずっと興奮度の高い瞬間でした。。。

Personally, Mark is a more chiseled, clean-cut, handsome guy. But as a boyfriend, Olly seems more fun and personable.
個人的に、Markのほうが、正統派ハンサムな顔立ちだと思うけど、ボーイフレンドにするんだったらOllyかなぁと。Ollyのほうがお茶目で一緒に過ごして楽しそう。

二人とも、これで文字通り、『一本立ち』？！（ジョン・スチュアートの冗談よりオヤジギャグ？！失礼しましたぁ～。）
今年のオスカーはイマイチでした。司会をしたジョン・スチュアートのジョークも滑りがちでいまいち。他の出演者も、事前準備をあんまりしてないんじゃないの？っていうようなコネタしかないのが多かったし。ライブ・ミュージックも、ミュージカルばっかりで僕の興味は萎えてしまった。作家協会の一斉ストライキが長引いたので、オスカーの脚本書くのにあまり時間がなかった模様。
Another (disappointing) surprise is that Michael Clayton didn't win many prizes--only the best supporting actress category. Tilda Swinton , who played an evil attorney in Michael Clayton, was great, actually. She deserves it.
そしてもう一つ、イマイチに思った原因は、Michael Claytonがあんまり受賞しなかったこと。助演女優賞はこの映画に出てるTilda Swintonが受賞したけどそれだけだったんじゃないかな。でも彼女の演技は光ってたので、受賞してよかったです。
No Country for Old Men was definitely the biggest winner of the night. That's the Cohen brothers' latest film. I like their Fargo a lot but haven't seen this one. That's why I couldn't get excited when I heard that they won the best picture last night.
今年、各賞を総なめしたのが、No Country for Old Men。コーエン兄弟が監督した作品。僕も、彼らの昔の作品、Fargoは好きだけど、ちょっと玄人向き映画。まだNo Countryは見てないというのもあり、昨晩の受賞の納得感が薄い・・・。
According to my friend James, this movie is very suspenseful but also bloody and spooky. Hmmm I'm not sure if I can enjoy such a movie on Friday night by myself... But since it won the best picture, I should see it sometime, maybe with M (my Japanese female friend) or Brian.

There is a theory (according to some commentator on the U.S. television), if a pretty actress plays an ugly woman, she will win the Oscar; see Nicole Kidman in The Hours and Charlize Theron in Monster. Well, it seems true for this year.

Michael Clayton
昨晩は、映画『Michael Clayton』のDVDを借りて見ました。久々の大ヒット！面白かった～。4日間の出来事を凝縮したストーリーなんだけど、ジョージ・クルーニーの演技が秀逸だった。彼の、これまでのどの映画より、繊細な心理描写があちこちにちりばめられてました。
Last night I rent a DVD of Michael Clayton which was a huge hit! It was so great. The story is about four-day events but it's non-stop. Especially George Cloony's performance was superb. I know he is a great actor but probably his performance in Michael Clayton depicts subtle expressions of the protagonist best in a convincing manner.
なんでも、この映画監督が脚本も書いてて、2年がかり（？）で練りに練った作品とか。DVDのボーナス・フィーチャーでは、各シーンにどれだけ神経を使って撮影したかを説明してる。
I learned that the movie director also wrote the script and spent two years (maybe he said longer) to launch the shooting project. The special feature section in the DVD includes comments by the director, saying how much they spent time to come up with the best way for shooting each scene.
映画の中で、弁護士が自殺に見せかけて二人の殺し屋に殺害されるシーンがあるのだけど、その無機質で機械的な殺し屋たちの職人技にヒヤッとさせられる。慣れた手つきで無駄な動きが一つもないプロの技とはこのこと、というような手さばき。
There is a scene in which a lawyer is killed by two assassins. They set up the murder scene, so that it looks like it's a suicide. Their execution is so smooth and mechanical. Such a flawless movement made me feel my heart go in a flop sweat. They are pro for sure.
後で、監督のコメントを聞くと、この殺し屋役の二人の役者さん、このシーンを1ヶ月かけて練習したとか！あと、人を一人担いで靴下脱がして、というような重労働のシーンのため、体育会系の役者さんを二人選んだとか（一人はダンサーでもあるらしい。もしやゲイ？）。だから、彼らの動きがあんなに機敏だったんだなぁ。二人とも身体鍛えてそうで、実は主演のジョージ・クルーニーよりも僕の中では注目度が高かった二人でした・・・。
In the feature section, the director said that the two actors who played assassins trained for this scene for a month! This murder scene requires them to carry a heavy man and take off his sock, etc., so the director chose these really athletic actors (one of them is also a dancer. Could he be gay?). That's why their movement was so agile. Both of the actors looked very athletic, and honestly I was more drawn to them than to Cloony...

オスカー前夜
明日は、年に一度のお祭り、オスカーの授賞式っすね。その年の注目のセレブが一同に集まるっていうんで、日本でいうところの、紅白歌合戦に似た国民的イベントっす。今月あったスーパーボールも国民的イベントだけど、ゲイにとっては、ファッション・ショーでなおかついい男も見放題っちゅうんで、こっちのほうが注目度が高いと言えるでしょう。（ゲイバーなんかでは、オスカー賞の夜は特別イベントで、ドラッグクイーンが司会して、テレビに登場するセレブに厳しいコメントを付けながら一同に観賞するなんていう催しものがあります。）
先週末、邦題『つぐない（原題：Atonement）』を見たけれど、この1年、忙しすぎてあんまり映画を見てないんで、ノミネートされた作品についての知識があんまりないんっす・・・。今日と明日、何本か受賞前に見て予習しようかと思ってます。特に、先日、ジョージ・クルーニーのMichael ClaytonのDVDがリリースされたので、レンタルしようかと思案中。
そうそう、『つぐない』はストーリーがちょい重すぎでのめりこめなかったけど、準主役のJames McAvoyが映えてた。あと、最近の注目に、先週末封切られて全米大ヒットの映画、Jumperで主演している役者さんがいます。カナダ人のHayden Christensenという人。今週、テレビのトークショーに出まくり。だけど、しゃべりは超boringで、会話は長続きしないんだけど・・・。
カナダ人と言えば、映画Kamatakiの主演をしている俳優さんMathew Smileyがモロ、タイプかも。

今朝は、久々にブライアンと、ブランチを一緒に取って近況報告しました。コロンビアのボゴタへの旅は楽しかったようで、結構、ゲイ文化が花開いてるとか。アジア人好きのブライアンだけど、ラテン系の中にはアジア人っぽい人も多いいんで、ボゴタを堪能したとか。
最近、僕も大旅行に行ってないし、今年こそは、東南アジアかヨーロッパを長期旅行したいと画策中。だけど、東南アジアは鳥インフルエンザが流行ってるっていうし、ちょっと二の足を踏んでます・・・。特にインドネシアの小島とかタイ、ベトナムに行きたいのだけど、まさに鳥インフルエンザの震源地みたいだし。どうなんでしょう？東南アジアに住まわれている方からの現地情報を期待してます。
一方、ユーロ高で、ヨーロッパから足が遠のきがちだったのだけど、ユースホステルに泊まって、格安バックパッカーを地で行けば、予算内におさまるかも？なんて思い始めた。それに、いい男が多いらしいというデンマークとか北欧に興味津々だし、ギリシャの島々をめぐるっていうのも長年の夢。イタリア一週、ほんでもって、南仏を経てスペインのバレンシア地方まで巡るなんていうルートもいいかも。ブライアンに話したら、ギリシャの部分だけ飛び入り参加するかもとのこと。Mさんは南仏部分に参加したいって言ってるし、この計画、ちょっと真剣に考えてみようかな。
追記：先日、水曜の夜は、皆既月食で、お月様が地球の影に隠れてしまうという天体現象がありました。僕のアパートからも見れて、刻々と月が影に覆われていく様は圧巻でした。

ニコラス・ペタス（Nicholas Pettas）
前回のメールで、いい男が多いデンマーク、それに夢のギリシャの島々を旅行したい！と書いたけれど、自分の深層心理が露呈してたのかもぉ～と我に返ってしまった出来事が。今晩、NHK（海外放送）を見ていたら、栗原はるみのYour Japanese Kitchenという番組が放送されてました。結構、お気に入りで見ているのだけど、その中で、たまに登場する浴衣姿のrugged guyがとーっても気になってました。
In my previous blog posting I said that this year I want to travel to Denmark, where I heard are lot of good-looking guys, and Greek Isles. My wishful thought might have revealed my deep psyche advertently, which surprised myself a bit. Tonight when I was watching NHK World, I came across a program "Your Japanese Kitchen" hosted by Harumi Kurihara. I have watched her show and liked it, in which I occasionally see a rugged guy in "yukata" a traditional Japanese cloths. He's kinda cute and has left an impression on me.

ずっと前は、団子作りに挑戦してたけど、今回はおでんやでつみれ作りに挑戦してた。ニコラスという名前で、K1に出てる格闘家というところまではキャッチしてたのだけど、インターネットで調べてみても、それだけじゃ見つけられなくてちょっと諦め気味。だけど、今晩は、最初から番組を見ることができて、彼のラストネームもばっちりキャッチ！
Before in this show, he was learning how to make 'dango' while this time he was learning how to make oden, especially 'tsumire' a fish ball. Last time, I caught his name Nicholas and that he was a K1 athlete, but knew nothing else. I searched about him on the Internet but wasn't successful in finding any further information about him and I was almost giving up. But tonight I watched the show from the beginning and got his full name!
彼の名前は、Nicholas Pettas。日本語もかなり話せるみたい。テレビ番組は、英語で日本の料理を紹介するのが主旨なので、彼も英語で説明しているのだけど、ちょっと英語に訛りが。どこが出身なんだぁ～って思ってたけど、今日、彼のラストネームを知ったことで、彼の生い立ちも発見しました。
His full name is Nicholas Pettas. He sounds like fluent in Japanese. This TV program, Your Japanese Kitchen, is for introducing Japanese dishes in English, so he mostly speaks in English. I realized he has some accent in his English, though. I wondered where he was originally from. Since I got his last name today, I could find out where he's from.
このプロフィールによると、出身国はデンマークで1973年1月23日生まれ（アメリカ国籍でもあり）。ギリシャのミコノス島で生まれ、父親が他界した直後、3歳でデンマークへ引っ越す。14歳で極真空手をはじめ、18歳で日本で内弟子になったとか。
According to this English website, he's from Denmark. He was born on January 23, 1973 (he is also American nationality). He grew up in Mykonos. Following his father's death, he moved to Denmark at age three. At 14, he started practicing karate, and became 'uchideshi' at age 18. (read more about his bio here.)
今じゃ、日本のマスコミで引っ張りだこで、役者業も始めてるんだってね。今度、日本に帰ったとき、テレビで見られるといいな。
Nowadays, he is very popular in Japanese media and entertainment industry and has started a career as an actor. I hope I can watch him on TV next time when being back in Japan.

I have watched her show and liked it, in which I occasionally see a rugged guy in "yukata" a traditional Japanese cloths. He's kinda cute and has left an impression on me.

ずっと前は、団子作りに挑戦してたけど、今回はおでんやでつみれ作りに挑戦してた。ニコラスという名前で、K1に出てる格闘家というところまではキャッチしてたのだけど、インターネットで調べてみても、それだけじゃ見つけられなくてちょっと諦め気味。だけど、今晩は、最初から番組を見ることができて、彼のラストネームもばっちりキャッチ！
Before in this show, he was learning how to make 'dango' while this time he was learning how to make oden, especially 'tsumire' a fish ball. Last time, I caught his name Nicholas and that he was a K1 athlete, but knew nothing else. I searched about him on the Internet but wasn't successful in finding any further information about him and I was almost giving up. But tonight I watched the show from the beginning and got his full name!
彼の名前は、Nicholas Pettas。日本語もかなり話せるみたい。テレビ番組は、英語で日本の料理を紹介するのが主旨なので、彼も英語で説明しているのだけど、ちょっと英語に訛りが。どこが出身なんだぁ～って思ってたけど、今日、彼のラストネームを知ったことで、彼の生い立ちも発見しました。
His full name is Nicholas Pettas. He sounds like fluent in Japanese. This TV program, Your Japanese Kitchen, is for introducing Japanese dishes in English, so he mostly speaks in English. I realized he has some accent in his English, though. I wondered where he was originally from. Since I got his last name today, I could find out where he's from.
このプロフィールによると、出身国はデンマークで1973年1月23日生まれ（アメリカ国籍でもあり）。ギリシャのミコノス島で生まれ、父親が他界した直後、3歳でデンマークへ引っ越す。14歳で極真空手をはじめ、18歳で日本で内弟子になったとか。

連休の過ごし方
ご無沙汰しておりました。怒涛の米国大陸往復出張も無事終わったと思ったら、VIPの訪問やら締め切りに追われてあっという間にバレンタインデーも終わってしまいました。そして、今週末は月曜がPresident's Dayで休日になるので3連休。だけど予定が入ってなぁ～い・・・という寂しい状況。
仕事と私生活のバランス（いわゆるwork and life balanceってやつ）は大切ですねぇ～。
親友Mさん（日本人女性）も、かれこれシングル暦が長く、戦友っちゅーか、同病相哀れむっていうか、微妙な同朋意識があるのだけど、彼女は僕よりも仕事が忙しい人。来週は、フィラデルフィアからNY、そしてサンフランシスコと、僕が先週行ってきたルートに近いアメリカ往復出張が入ったとか。しかも、来週日曜に帰宅という、週末潰し。そんなご無体な出張前に、景気づけ（？）で今晩、映画を見に行こうという話になってます。見るのはAtonement。
僕のラブライフはというと、入れ替わり立ち代りで落ち着きなしですわ。先週、35歳、6フィート、2匹の犬と一緒に住むというデービッドと文通＆電話を開始。写真もグーで、声の感じも低く落ち着いた印象で、これまでのところ合格ライン。
ただ、最初のデートの予定を立ててたのに、当日になって歯医者の予約をしてたのを忘れてたとかで、電話でドタキャン。これってどーよ。かなり印象悪くないっすか？だけど、Thank you for understandingとか、丁寧っちゃー丁寧な人。その後、平謝りのメールも来たし、とりあえず直接会うところまでいってみようかと。
今週末はどうですか？と打診してみたけど、週末は街を離れてるんだとの返事。犬が2匹もいるのに、家を離れるって？長距離じゃない模様。隣の州とかに実家があって、そこに車で犬を連れて帰っているのか、はたまたボーイフレンドと週末だけ行き来する関係があるとか？なんでも、基本的に週末は忙しいという彼。かなりNGだよね・・・。日曜夜には帰ってくるというので、3連休の最終日の月曜、とりあえず僕は暇だと伝えてある。
3連休、一緒に遊んでくれる人！っつーんで、なりふり構わず、トライアスロンするデービッドにメールしたら、"I'm in Colorado now"っちゅー返事。スキーっすか。いいっすねぇ。僕も連れて行って欲しかった。父親と一緒に自営業をしてるっていうこのデービッドは、身に着けてるものもこぎれいで、羽振よさげ。数週間前はベイ・エリアに旅行に行ってたというし（昔、LAに住んでたとか）、でもって、この3連休はコロラドでスキー。連絡とって、余計落ち込んでしまった僕。
こうなったら、恥も名聞もなく、久々にウィリアムか？っつーんで、「最近、音信不通だけど、どうなってんの？」ってメールを出してみた。そしたら、「この週末は小旅行に行こうかと思ってるんだけど、迷ってるところ」というNGな返事。「最近付き合ってる人いるの？」という、これまたなんと答えていいのか微妙な質問もきたりして困惑。やっぱウィリアムはダメだ。連絡を取った俺がバカだった。っていうんで、その質問は勝手に受け取らなかったことにして会話は終わり。
ブライアンとは、先週末、ブランチを一緒に食べて近況報告をしたし、その翌日、Mさんの高級マンションでバーベキュー会をして、ジェームスも合わせた4人で盛り上がった（クリスマスパーティーの再来）。そのとき、この3連休は、コロンビアのボゴタに一人で旅行に行くと話していたブライアン。あ～やっぱ、独身でyuppyなゲイだったら、こういう3連休は、ちょっと足を伸ばして小旅行するのが当たり前なんだねー。うろたえてしまう僕。一応、僕もヤングでアーバンでプロフェッショナルなんですけど。3連休をこんなに暇してちゃーダメなんだねぇぇぇぇっ。

最近、こちらで小さなブームになってるのが、The Millionaire MatchmakerというケーブルテレビBravoの新番組。LAでお見合い業をするパティーの日々を追いかけるリアリティー番組。そのタイトルが表すように、100万ドル以上の資産がある独身男性をターゲットに、ワイフ探しをするのがビジネス。毎週火曜日に放送されているのだけど、毎回、読みきりで完結しているので見やすい。
1回のエピソードで、2人のミリオネアーが登場して、どういう女性がタイプか、どういうビジネスで財を成したかなど彼らへの事前インタビューをすることから始まり、そこで得られた情報を元に、候補の女性探し、それと、男側にある問題（例えば、20代前半の超若い子じゃないとダメとか、ファッションセンスがないとか、結婚したいと言いながら、パーティー漬けの生活から抜け出せないとか）を矯正しようとスペシャリストが登場する。
毎回違う2人の100万長者が登場するのだけど、いつも1人は40代のまじめ派、もう1人は30代の遊び人っていう組み合わせになってる。そんでもって、40代のまじめ派は、まじめすぎて女性経験が少ないとか、仕事にのめり込みすぎてプライベートをおろそかにしてきたタイプ。30代の遊び人は、見た目もハンサムな人が多くて、お金もあるし女性には困らないタイプなんだけど、あまりに女性の選択肢が多すぎて、プレイヤーに成り下がってるのが多いかな。
この番組、低俗そのものなんだけど、人間の本質をついてるんだよねぇ。金、若さ、美貌っちゅー、人間の欲求の本質を。僕は、40代のまじめ派ミリオネアーに同調することが多いんだけど、僕が今週、eメールを送りまくった（犬2匹を飼う）デービッドや、トライアスロンするデービッド、国連のウィリアムなんかは、遊び人派だね、確実に。
もう僕のラブライフも八方塞。ゲイ版パティーが欲しいっ！そしたら、ちょうど、そういうゲイ用の個人デートサービスを提供している人がいるという記事を発見。その名もManMate。このサービスも、自分のタイプや趣味を創業者のGrant Wheatonに伝えると、数千人いるリストの中から合致する人を探してくれるとか。うまくデートがいくようにトレーニングもしてくれたり、カウンセリングもしてくれるとかで、マッチする確率は高いみたい。やっぱり、バーに行ったり、スポーツグループに行ってみたり、はたまたオンラインでチャットしたりっていう、かなり博打に近い状況では、宝くじに当たるくらいの確率でしか素敵な出会いはないんだろうなぁ・・・。
Mさんにこのデートサービスのことを話したら、的確なコメントが返ってきた。「やっぱり、餅は餅屋ってこと？」
僕もManMateに登録しよう！と思ったら、これはNY地区でしか提供されてないとのこと。涙
